freelance beauty writerI’m just waiting to hear back from the PR for Lifehouse Spa so that I can write the article for Inspired. I love being a freelance beauty writer!

The great thing about a spa trip is that once you’re safely installed in your cosy fluffy white robe, you look the same as everyone else. Except perhaps, if you rock up poolside in a bright pink onesie, which I have seen before. Echoes of George Dawes…

Even in really upmarket, ever-so-slightly posh spas like Ragdale Hall or Champneys, you’re just the same as everyone else in that treatment room, while you’re enjoying a massage. I never tell people I’m there doing a review, and I have no idea if the management do, because not only do I want to be treated the same as everyone else and not with any kind of ‘better not mess this up’ kid gloves, but also I want to have the same experience that the people I’m writing for would get.

Anyway, my visit started with a swim in the gorgeous spa pool, a good hosing down under the water jets and a session in the steam room, before I chilled out by the pool with my Kindle, waiting for my massage.

The full body massage was blissful and un-knotted a few accumulated knots with ease. Dinner was at 8, which meant that by the time my guest and I had managed to put away a three course meal and the most delicious Pinot Grigio Rose I’ve tasted, we were so soporific that it was all we could do to stay awake long enough to get back to our room.

The feeling lasted until the following morning, when I was clearly relaxed…so much so that I realised I was walking into the dining room in just my socks.

I think Lifehouse have earned a positive review.
